Zombie Love

Sunday, January 27, 2013

If you saw this post, you've got a bit of an intro to the wonderful Hanasaurusrex, but just in case you missed it, here's a recap. I was recently cruising Pinterest and found this image...
First thought? 'Those would look awesome on cookies!' They're the perfect level of zombie love. I clicked through the link and was thrilled to see that they were a free printable for anyone to have. Wahoo! Now while I'm planning to print them out already for this year's Valentine's Day, I had to run with my original thought, and Hannah(the talent behind these fantastic creations!) was kind enough to let me share the photos with you!

 {Leave it to Abram to style these perfectly!}
 Thank you again to Hanasaurusrex for Original artwork and approval, and click HERE to get your own free Zombie Valentine printables!
Thank you also to Abram of A.E. Landes Photography for creating the perfect setting for these!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on these!

Yellow Submarine Time!

With holidays running nonstop and tons of great parties in the last few months, hitting January was a welcome break in the routine! Funny though, after a day or two of not decorating cookies for orders, I tend to get a bit stir crazy and start looking for a fun project. This is where the brilliant Hanasaurusrex comes in!
I originally found her artwork through Pinterest, from a completely different image, but after clicking through to the website, I fell in love with the artistic style, especially after seeing these babies...
Who wouldn't fall in love with these! I consider it a beautiful version of the Yellow Submarine album art, and I couldn't resist putting them on Sugar Cookies!
I'm a bit in love with this set, I have to say it. Side projects like these are the creative fuel I need sometimes and I'm so grateful to Hannah for letting me post pictures of the final product.
Speaking of pictures, Abram from A.E. Landes Photography went all out with the styling of these cookies, and I just have to share as many as I can. He did a fantastic job in catching the playfulness of the Beatles men!
{I'd take some Yellow Submarine livin' in this baby!}

{This Peekaboo photo is one of my favorites!}
A huge thank you again to the talent and brains behind Hanasaurusrex  for letting me get a bit creative with her original artwork. And as a lucky bonus for all of you, click HERE to get your very own Beatles Finger Puppets!

Let me know what you think! I love to hear your thoughts about fun projects like these!

It's Snowing!

Saturday, December 29, 2012

How perfect is it that as this post is being put together it's snowing outside! We expanded on a cute cookie from last year(does that vintage truck look familiar?), adding in words of encouragement-Let It Snow!, along with some snowflake touches for some glitz! The wonderful Abram from A.E. Landes Photography took this set and ran with it, and we're blown away by the warm and beautiful results!
{This one is a favorite-Lovin' the twinkly lights from the tree in the background}

*CookieCon Cookies*

Saturday, November 17, 2012

A few weeks ago the two of us attended the first ever CookieCon in Utah and it was a blast! In a nutshell it was a 3 day event with 200 other 'Cookiers' (Sugar Cookie Decorators), and a few fantastic instructors who taught a bunch of different techniques. Part of the fun event was a Sugar Show-4 different set categories, and each attendee had the option to bring entries, 1 for each. We jumped on the opportunity and here are the fun results....
(A big huge thank you to Jen Anderson for these great last minute pictures! It was fantastic to see you!)

 {Wendy's Wild Card Entry-She won 3rd place Attendee Pick! These painted Cookies were a huge hit!}

If you're as in love with these painted Cookies as I am, you'll love that soon we'll be making this style available to you!

Brittanie's Fall & Winter entries were based off the fantastic work of  Annie from DigiMyWorld. Thank you so much for letting me borrow your sweet work for these cookies!

*Thankful*

It's that time of the year that we love! Not only is the cooler weather here along with a change in colors, but we're reminded of how grateful we are for you! The customers who have kept us busy for these past 4 years, the great businesses that have opened their doors to us, and especially those of you who have shared our name with your friends and family. Thank you!

A recent event this past week was a great example of the people we love doing something great for others, and throwing a rockin' party while doing it! After the success Girl's Night out in Frederick, the ladies of Silk&Burlap decided to extend the giving spirit by throwing a Home For The Holidays event last Friday, donating 10% of all purchases to Friends of Meals on Wheels of Frederick County!

Snickety Snacks was there with a full Thanksgiving/Fall inspired table, and we gave it all away! Here are a few pictures of what we had set up

 Bite Size Acorns and Leaves, and Large Turkeys and Painted Leaves, and extra Large Plaque Cookies!
The definite hit of the night was our Cheesecake Cake Bite in Dark Chocolate! They're a new flavor option and were complimented by a seasonal flavor, the Pumpkin Spice in White Chocolate. We also had Lemon Cupcakes with Cheesecake Frosting and raffled off a gorgeous burnt orange Ruffled Cake in the same Lemon/Cheesecake flavor!

All of these treats are available for your Thanksgiving and Fall parties, so hurry and place your order!

*A Rainbow of Colors*

This post is definitely overdue! A few months ago we chipped in on a fantastic Rainbow themed party that our photographer Andrea had created for her daughter's birthday. Can I just say, Andrea knows how to throw a serious party!
We tackled the dessert table and loved every inch of it thanks to the fun twist on the traditional rainbow colors!
 Vertical Ruffle Cake with Rainbow Layers
Inverted Cake Pops, Marshmallow Pops, and Cake Push Pops
Colored Popcorn & Sugar Cookies based on the Party Invite
 The *pop* of color inside the Cake!
